Suzhou-Yinchuan Industrial Park accelerates green development

The Suzhou-Yinchuan Industrial Park, located in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, is transforming its edge in the energy field into industrial advantages, making green development a new driving force for industrial economic growth.

The industrial park represents a major initiative for Suzhou in Jiangsu province and Yinchuan in Ningxia to explore win-win cooperation between China's eastern and western regions.

The utilization of green electricity requires energy storage regulation and efficient equipment matching. The Yuchao Equipment Manufacturing Base project broke ground on Oct 30, aimed at meeting this market demand.

With a total investment of 1.33 billion yuan ($199.76 million), the project is expected to be put into operation before the end of 2027. After completion, it will be able to produce 3,000 sets of high-end intelligent power equipment a year, including solid-state transformers and power shelters, for an estimated annual output value of 2.6 billion yuan.

In addition, Ningxia Hong'en New Energy's 100MW/400MWh energy storage power station project has practically completed the main construction work and entered the acceptance stage before grid connection.

After the project is put into operation, it will be able to store 400,000 kWh of electricity, including surplus electricity generated by wind and solar power during the day, and send it back to the power grid during the peak electricity consumption at night. This will smooth out peak valley fluctuations and reduce the operating load of the power grid.

In the first three quarters of this year, the total output value generated by industrial enterprises above designated size in the park reached 10.05 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 105.1 percent. The park has begun construction on 19 projects this year already.
