Ma Huijuan speaks at a group discussion of the ongoing second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing.

Ma is an NPC deputy to the 13th and 14th National People's Congress and a member of the China Writers Association. True to form, this year, her proposals have revolved around the development of a particular area—the construction and development of her hometown Hongsibu district in Ningxia Hui autonomous region.

Over the past 20 years, Hongsibu district has undergone a transformation from relocation to stability and then to prosperity.

Prior to the Spring Festival, Ma visited Hongsibu, where she saw many newly built bright and spacious tiled houses, each with a unique two-story design.

When speaking about their current lives, the locals in Hongsibu eagerly recounted the enormous changes that have taken place since their resettlement, and infrastructure, education for children, and elderly care have improved substantially.

"I have witnessed the great changes in my hometown, which is the result of the efforts made in the rural revitalization by our country. This year, I also hear lots of good news that will benefit Ningxia's people. I will convey the news to the locals in my hometown and work hard to contribute to local prosperity," said Ma.
