At the ongoing second session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) in Beijing, NPC deputy Li Yuhua has made proposals regarding stabilizing electricity services and constructing a new type of power system to serve the market.
The primary feature of the new power system is its reliance on new energy sources. As a national comprehensive demonstration zone for new energy, Ningxia has explored replicable paths for promoting the construction of a new power system through the large-scale development of new energy. It is anticipated that by 2024, Ningxia's newly installed capacity for new energy will exceed 46 million kilowatts. At the same time, Ningxia's energy storage and peak regulation resources, such as thermal power, will play an important role in ensuring power supply and integrating new energy.
In order to maintain the financial balance of various market entities such as coal power, new energy, and energy storage, Li proposed to accelerate the development of electricity spot market and to establish a mechanism for compensating energy storage capacity.
