Traditional Chinese medicine is a treasure of the Chinese civilization and has played an important role in preventing and treating diseases. Narrowing the gap in the development of traditional Chinese medicine between the east and the west of China and achieving its balanced development is a major concern.
Tong proposed to set up a national heritage and innovation center of traditional Chinese medicine in Ningxia, and to establish the Ningxia Branch of the Affiliated Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in a bid to support the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine in the region.
