Ji Xiuhua is the chairwoman of the Women's Federation of Dongsheng village, Dazhanchang town, Zhongning county, Ningxia. "As a village cadre, one must have compassion for the people, and must be able to solve problems for them," said Ji, who has devoted herself to village management work for 21 years. Over these years, she has focused on the construction of the village and helped farmers increase their income.
Zhongning county in Ningxia is recognized as the "hometown of Chinese goji berry". Taking advantage of this well-known brand, the local government has been developing this characteristic industry, making the plant instrumental in helping achieve local prosperity. Since 2000, Ji has encouraged the female workers in the village to plant more goji berry so they could increase their income.
Furthermore, Ji realized the importance of farmers in the rural revitalization. When she made investigations, she learned the lack of breeding technology was an urgent problem. Later, she got in touch with the department of the local government and started routine training to the farmers. At present, there are over 7,000 cows being taken care of in the village.

When Ji helped the villagers to improve income, she was also helping to promote a scientific and healthy lifestyle. In addition to encouraging the women to contribute to management work, she offered her own vacant house to become a small library for the left-behind children, to meet their needs for reading extracurricular books.
This year, Ji Xiuhua was selected as a representative at the 20th CPC National Congress. She said she would continue to do her best to contribute to the construction of the village.
