Gu Chun'e is a medical worker at the nursing home of the Fourth People's Hospital of Ningxia, and the infectious diseases ward is her daily working area. Whether it is in the daily care of patients with tuberculosis and AIDS, or the treatment of SARS, H1N1 influenza and COVID-19, Gu Chun'e always adheres to the forefront of patient treatment. From the day she put on her nurse's uniform, she has regarded herself as a "female soldier" who fights against diseases and viruses.

In spring 2022, after the outbreak of COVID-19, the Fourth People's hospital was identified as the only designated hospital for confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ningxia. Without hesitation, Gu decided to go to the frontline to fight against the virus.

She went to inspect fever clinics and isolated wards, and proposed the work method of "area management, strict access, and process guidance". Additionally, she defined 16 standardized nursing operation specifications, and carried out a personal protection access assessment for more than 280 nursing personnel who needed to enter isolated wards, which effectively strengthened prevention and control of the disease.
When the number of patients increased, Gu volunteered to work in the isolation wards, which posed the highest risk to medical workers, and was responsible for the management of nursing and inspection work. In the wards, from garbage disposal in the wards to the physical monitoring of medical staff in the rest area, she paid close attention to every detail of the work.
The goal of zero death of confirmed cases and zero infection of medical staff in Ningxia was successfully completed.
In April 2020, Gu worked as the only nursing expert in the expert group of China's assistance to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. She said: "On behalf of Chinese medical workers, I am very honored to impart our experience of pandemic prevention and control."
In the 20 years that she has devoted herself to medical care, Gu has been recognized as one of the "top 100 medical workers" in the region, "advanced individuals in fighting against COVID-19" and has received other accolades.
This year, Gu was selected as a representative at the 20th CPC National Congress. She said she would continue to do the best job she can and protect people from diseases.
